Hi, I'm Kirstie - founder, illustrator & designer here at Kirstie Young Studio. I love to create modern, heartfelt illustrations combined with the timeless beauty of calligraphy. My products are intentionally personal: greeting cards, prints, wedding stationery and keepsakes that feel crafted rather than produced, thoughtful rather than generic.

Because I believe in the power of small gestures. The kind that make someone’s day. The kind that remind us we’re loved. The kind that bring a smile through the letterbox.

Hello! So lovely to meet you :)

I started this small business on a mission to bring connection, creativity, and a little joy back into the busy, messy rhythm of everyday life.

I make illustrated goods for people who are juggling a lot — mums in the thick of it, women building careers, anyone trying to keep friendships alive while life keeps speeding up (yep, that's me!).

My hope is to give you something that helps you slow down for a moment.

To write a message you’ve been meaning to send.

To celebrate someone you love.

To let your personality shine through in the small details.

Connection - we live in a digital world where it's so easy to type a quick message online but there is something special about receiving a card in the post. Not just a Facebook “HBD,” but a card chosen with intention. Something they can hold, keep, and feel.

Individuality - personalised names, handwritten touches, and illustrations that feel like you.

Creativity - we support creativity in all forms and in our every day lives. Finding beauty in the mundane, joy in the small moments, art in the ordinary.

Small Business - as a small business, we think it's really important to support other small businesses! Choosing slow, thoughtful, and crafted over mass-produced.

Ethical/Sustainable - where possible, we try to make decisions for the business that are kind to the environment. This includes choosing recycled materials and limiting our use of plastic.

Honesty & Positivity - sometimes the world can be a miserable place and we aim to bring a bit of positivity and joy through our illustrations and products. But I also like to be real - sharing my small business journey as it really is: the wins, the mistakes, the learning curve, the mum-life chaos happening just out of frame!

A little about my story...

At school, I loved art and maths - maybe an odd combination, but it shaped who I am: a creative with a practical streak.

I suppose I chose the sensible path, studied maths and started a career in banking. It pays the bills — but it doesn't quite feed my soul. In every spare moment, I’d find myself thinking what if, what if I could build something of my own, and get to be creative while doing it.

Around the time I was planning my wedding, I fell in love with modern calligraphy and opened a small Etsy shop. Looking back, my early work makes me cringe — but those first sales gave me the confidence to start building something of my own.

Since then, life has grown busier — I’m married and mum to two beautiful daughters. And now, I feel like it's time to start taking this creative side hustle seriously & push myself to see what it can become.

I long for the freedom to do the school run, the flexibility to be there for the little moments, and the security to save for their future (and sneak in some family adventures along the way!).

More than anything, I would love to build something that’s mine — something that reflects love, connection, and creativity.

This little business is my way of doing that — turning art, words, and emotion into something you can hold, share, and treasure.
